7600 ?

What's with this card? Is it more powerful than a regular 6800?

A friend of mine has one, well actually he has 2. The 128-bit memory bus doesn't seem to hamper it much.

However, I will note that it was slightly whiney, but nothing no one couldn't get used used to.

X1800GTO lives up to it's namesake and can be flashed to Xl/XT.

It just goes to show...

I've uploaded the files required to Files.

What would be the best buy out of a X1800 XT 256MB or a 7900 GT 256MB?

They both cost the same. I doubt that I'll be using SLI in the near future, so no real need to stick with nVidia.

Other option would be to go for something more expensive, but I'd sooner spend that dosh on a Physx card.

IMO they are both a bad idea at this point.

It will not do anything that your 6800U doesn't already do technology wise, and there is not a performance improvement worth even close to the money.

My money is staying in my pocket until Vista / SM4.0 / G80 / R600 / AM2 / PhysX mainstream.

I just don't see the benefit in something that isn't significantly better than what I already use.

Well I've got this nF4 board sitting here doing nothing and no PCI-e card to go with it.

How about a pair of 7800 GTs, still wasting my money?

My 7800GT is noticeably faster then my old 6800 ultra, it isnt twice as fast but it is a big improvement.

There's a chance I will sell my 6800U around that time or sooner.

If I do I will put it up for sale at AOA before ebaying it.
