New Sytrin VGA Cooler

I have an eVGA 7800 GT CO. It has a nice take-off on the reference design cooler in pure copper. The GPU portion also heatsinks 4 of the 8 RAM chips; the other 4 are cooled with a black aluminum heatsink.

After I softmodded the card with Monkeyman's unlocking/overclocking guide for the 7800 using this stock setup, I typically idled in the 55 C range. After playing Madden NFL Football for 2 to 4 hours I would be in the 65-67 C range.

After installing this last night I am now idling at 49 C. After 1.5 hours of Madden NFL I registered 55 C.

This is an easy install for anyone who has ever added an aftermarket cooler to a video card; it took me longer to find where I hid my Arctic Silver Thermal Material Remover & Surface Purifier and the Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound from myself.

Just make sure you have the free second slot and the clearance above the card to make this work; I use an Antec SLK3700AMB Mid Tower case that is now discontinued; the equivalent replacement for it is the SLK3800-B.

My opinion is that this is the best air cooling solution you can buy right now; I wouldn't throw away a Zalman to put this on, but otherwise, it just kicks ass. Highly recommended.

When you say soft modded, you mean bios-modded? Did you gain much increase in performance thorugh the volt-mod?

Can't wait till i get my new system, gonna install a nice 7900GT into it or maybe a cheap 7800GT if i can find one. Nice VGA cooler btw excellent temp improvement.

Modify your 7800GT BIOS!

I can get the GPU up to 505 now from 490 after your bios volt mod.

I reiterate: the RAM heat sinks that come with the Sytrin suck. I attribute this entirely to the adhesive that comes pre-applied to them. I am not able to OC any farther than the stock heat sinks let me with the Sytrin RAM heat sinks installed.

I am going to try pulling them off, cleaning the crap off all affected surfaces and use a thermal expoxy solution.
