91.28 Nvidia Forceware Released

Nvidia has just released a new official beta driver, the 91.28 set. Now, in the past, Nvidia official beta drivers have always been extremely good, and this one seams to be no different.

Quote:
Release 90 Enhancements
Release 90 provides these new features and improvements:
• Establishes the new NVIDIA Control Panel as the recommended user
interface.
• Includes several PureVideo improvements.
• Increased stability and performance.
OpenGL
The following extensions have been added:
• WGL_NV_gpu_affinity
Video
Release 90 includes the following new PureVideo features and improvements:
Video Processing Improvements
Release 90 includes several PureVideo technology improvements1:
• Added noise reduction post processing
• Added image sharpening post processing
• Improved inverse telecine algorithm
• Improved de-interlacing algorithm
• Improved compatibility with third party MPEG-2 decoders
New Features—Available Only in the New NVIDIA Control
Panel
• Color Temperature Correction
• Allows users to compensate for monitor gamut differences
• Enhances color correctness of video
• Video Gamma Enhancement to include RGB gamma adjustment
• RGB Gamma for VMR9
• Allows users to tweak gamma in channels separately
1. Video processing improvements are seen in higher HQV benchmark scores.
• For both Overlay and VMR9
Control Panel
Release 90 introduces the new NVIDIA Control Panel as the recommended
interface. The new interface provides intuitive navigation of NVIDIA display
property controls, and will be the interface for other NVIDIA software.
While the Classic Control panel is still available, no changes or new features
will appear in that interface.
Narkotik was kind enough to upload these for us to AOAFiles here:

These drivers, aside from offering a large assortment of improvements to Nvidia's purevideo video processing features and performance gains in 3D, feature an all new user interface, similar to ATI's CCC. This interface simplifies the driver configuration experience greatly, and is also helpful to experienced overclockers. There is also an option to use the "old school" control panel, if you see fit.

Hate the "control Panel"

I haven't done any testing yet to see if it is faster. It did mess up my dual monitor setup for a bit.....

The new control panel isn't my cup of tea either to be honest.

But it lets you choose the old one still, and I can see the benefit in the new control panel for less computer literate gamers.

The performance does seam to be good, in that I can up the AA from 2X to 4X in CSS with the same performance. Image quality is considerably different, kind of sharper and more vibrant.

What really impressed me though is the PureVideo image quality. Playing DVD, HD video, DivX etc is great, much sharper, better colours.

Yea, definately.

The 77.76s were great, but they are well old now.

Something i have noticed in the 77.76's, is that when i upgraded to PCI-E 6200, and re-installed them, i couldn't creat custome profiles.

Right click on you desktopp and select control panel. It is there somewhere to change to old school. Yoiu will have to add coolbits or use riva tuner to enable oc abilities. I use RT any because I have all my pipes and shaders unlocked...

Yeah, I forgot about having to use Coolbits!

That gave me over clocking. As far as I can tell I'm using the "old" style now with Cool bits functionality.
Thanks Samuknow!!

Well i can up the settings to max (Except textures which are at low and AA is off) but i don't know whether it's these new drivers or the BF2 1.30 update, but the ground is completely white at times, then it flickers back to the normal ground texture, but then it goes white again, and when you move, things go blurry. Apart from that though, Performance has increased by about 2 times.

These drivers have been great for me, awesome gains in Oblivion, and this set has allowed me greater overclocks without artifacts like before. This set is much better than the 87.25's, so if you are using that set i highly recommend upgrading, this is the best set of drivers i have seen in a long time.

Saying performance is up because of a BF2 update is like saying milk tastes better because it was left in the sun for a month.
