I was looking at revamping my 5.1 system, but I'm trying to decide which speakers to get. Might take me a little while though.

I have a decent set of 5.1 from Logitech. Sahme is I just picked up a set of 5.1 headphones. Now the speakers just sit there. I only use them when no one is home... The 5300's seem like they would be plenty. If your doing a lot of music listening at high volumes then go for the 5500's

ok ppl, i bought the z5300e and when i plugged them into my computer all the channels worked except for the front right channel. Putting my trouble shooting skills to use i plugged them into my little sisters computer w/ a Live 24-bit sound card in it and all channels work... I'm still using the rig in my sig w/ an X-Fi extreme music. I'm going to be reinstalling my sound card drivers right now and I'll see what happens then. If possible could someone maybe hop online and chat w/ me on either yahoo or msn? yahoo=wond3rbread985 and my msn is up in the right hand corner of this post. EDIT: I fixed it. it ended up being that the creative audio console changed to 5.1 but the CP didnt.

That's good news i only have a 2.1 system at teh moment and really need some surround sound to enjoy my music better and the 5500 look good enough for me since i listen to Van Halen and Velvet Revolver quite loud at home ![]()

@ Got Epox If you just want to listen to music loudly in hi-def go for a good set of stereo monitors. Don't bother with 5.1/6.1/7.1 etc as you won't notice any difference (unless of course they are better quality speakers) as nearly all music is recorded in stereo. The extra channels will just be playing copies of what's coming out of your right and left channels and you won't notice them unless you turn them up higher than your front speakers! The only reason anyone would want surround sound on their pc is if they want to play games with EAX/THX/DTS etc or watch DVD's in surround. If you are only wanting to listen to music, surround sound will make very little difference (other than a possible increase in wattage if you buy better speakers). You would be better off spending money on a very good pair of speakers rather than an average set of surround sound speakers. |

I got a set and am very pleased with them for both music and movies. The bass is tighter than most of the subs and mates well with the lower frequency extension of the satellites, plus the center plug generated highs disperse well and are among the cleanest out there. (Oh yes, they work well for games too ![]() In other words -- I second your choice! ![]() -- Trevor
