Best AGP Graphic card for the bucks?

Don't want to upgrade anything! How some ever it looks like my eVGA 6800 GT is on the way out.

Use to idle at around 48-52, now is 62-72. Getting herringbone patten lock ups in Q4, have to reboot. At reboot it loads up until windows is about to appear, then patterns out and locks up. I let it coool rebooted and unlocked my card (Was @ 400 and 1.5)

Completely unclocked 350 and 1.0 locked up after 20 Min's. NO bad artifacts of any kind, still a great looking picture.

Ambient is 42, idle 62

Looks like I need to clean the card, I'll get back to ya":O}

Had no trouble last summer when the heat came, so better cooling or a new AGP card?

I cleaned the fan. Lots of very fine power built up over the last six months!

Looks like I picked up 2-4 degrees, hard to say. I now idle at 58 ambient 41.

I'll break down and re-apply the Arctic sliver...GOD! I'm Lazy! Thanks guys.

I was looking at prices and I DON'T want to go there! ":O}

eVGA has a lifetime warranty from memory, which is one of the reasons I bought my 7300GS from them. All may not be lost.

My 6800GT idles at 60C, tops out in the 70s under load. They do run rather hot.

Then I'm probably all right. After re-do on the heat-sink, back to 56 idle 3 mins after a 1/2 hour of Q4 still 2% hotter than I'm use to seeing it! OH! That's back at 400/1.5

I thought I remembered a lifetime gur. But their site says 1 year and 1 year more if you register...?

Since you don't care about the 6800GT anymore, I would volt mod it up to about 1.5V, and see if that corrects the issue. Voltage is often able to solve many problems like this, and theres a good chance it could be 100% stable afterwards.

We have a few threads on Vmods here. I did mine a somewhat different way which can't really be done unless you had an Albatron as well. Samuknow has done a Vmod and had great results, I think MonkeyMan has as well.

I would also be inclined to slap it into Patti's machine (assuming it has a good PSU) and running it with new drivers, on her box for a while to see if anything changes, then do the voltmod thing. By the sounds of it, heat is a slight factor, but by no means the culprit, which could be damage to the core. Voltage increases have the effect of increasing stability in a damaged GPU core. This is why some people that can't unlock at stock voltage are able to unlock at 1.5V or above.

I missed the free replacement by 15 days!

I'll try it in my 8RDA+ , where I gabbed the 4600Ti from. But first we rest, then we feast!
