Biostar 6800XT Agp

Hi guys.

I recently bought a Biostar 6800XT(512mb-256bit)agp card for my wife`s Msi nf3 ultra rig.I was reading a couple threads about unlocking the hidden pipes,so i unlocked 2 more pixel pipes and 2 more vertex processors. Now its a 16pipe,6 vertex processor card.My question is this.how risky is this and does it affect my gaurantee. How would the supplier know i unlocked it,if i switch it back to norm, and it goes kaboom. Also,i see no artifacting at all,i benched it and played Graw quite intensely, but am i risking a future failure by running it like this.
3D mark 2003-6900 with hidden pipes and vp
3D mark 2003-10700 unlocked.

cheers.

Unlocking the extra pipes is not really going to cause any damage, they either work, dont work, or work badly. Generally unlocking will void your warranty.

I wouldnt say unlocking will shorten the life of your card, overclocking will increase temperature (unless you improve cooling) and if temp is increased life-span is shortened, however unlocking has less effect on temperature than you would think.

To sum up...yes it will in theory void your warranty if they recieve a faulty card that is unlocked, however unlocking shouldnt kill your card it may just not be successful.

Thanks for the info MonkeyMan.I take it like this,if it goes, then it goes,i love the idea of sqeezing more performance out of hardware, besides,it wasnt that expensive.Ive got a 6600gt in my nf4,and this card kills it,once unlocked.cheers.keep up the good work.
