Small correction for you Dan, G83 is entry level -> 8300 series.
Whilst G86 is mid range 8600 series and will cost ALOT more (starting at $149 according to L'Inq) but will have double the gpu power of the G83, but half that of the G80

Reading the original document, the 8600 ultra looks like a good buy. You can get it with 512mb of memory, and it looks to be priced around 179$.....looks like it will be a decent mid range card for those on a budget.

i know 2 would be...which could be my next move, or i just might wait for the r600 and see how horrible that turns out

8600Ultra! Wow! So that's gonna have the same amount, or more, pipelines/arays/whatever you want to call them, than some of the current high-end cards.

And at $179, that'll be about, £90 by my reckoning, about the same as a 7600GT now then.
