6800 Gs = Gt

I picked up another board and cpu, so I will be throwing together another system. I figured I only want to spend about 100 bucks or so. I looked on Ebay and have seen plenty of 6800 cards.

I looked up specs and the GS only has 12 pipes and the GT of course has all 16. The issue is, I looked up some benchmarks, and it shows the GS and GT to be almost equal.

The GS is the PCI-E native 12pipe core (NV42) I mentioned in another thread. It's clocked higher than the 6800GT (An AGP native core) so it competes quite closely

I believe so.

The 6800GT and Ultra used a bridge chip to work on PCI-E and were the same core as the AGP 6800LE, NU, GT and Ultra (complete with broken purevideo)

The 6800GS was a unique core which only had 12 physical pixel pipes not just one of the quads disabled like the other cards and it's purevideo worked I believe.

So it must be the 75 mhz on the gpu that makes it so close....

Just to clarify the agp 6800GS is still NV40 based unlike the PCI-E which is NV42.

So it has an extra quad of pixels to potentially unlock and limitted HD acceleration

I have the GS AGP and I've been able to successfully unlock the "locked" pipes and overclock it way past 6800Ultra speeds. It runs better than my old 6800GT that died on me.

eVGA. This is the closest i could find to it: http://evga.com/products/moreinfo.as...7-TX&family=17

the only diff is that mine came stock with 350MHz/1000MHz. Its now running at 434/1145 with a lil more room to go.
