That performance differance looks atrocious, I can't see that being anything other than a driver maturity issue.

If I am not mistaken, ATI has a long history of driver issues. Especially on new hardware. This may come around after a rev or two.....

Ouch... I've been holding out for one of those bad boys... Surely it must just be the drivers... which doesn't exactly inspire a great deal of confidence I must say, given that I need linux drivers, which ATI has always sucked at anyway.

The XTX has issues, serious ones mainly that its not much faster than the XT when it should kick its arse, i did hear that the xtx is being delayed as its yet another hardware fault.
Last time i knew they were upto rev 13/ 14 of silicon, which is real bad! What makes it worse is either 11 or 12th revision was a waste of time as the silicon wasnt wired up properly to mate with the pcb someone missed out a pin

something is wrong...it benches practically the same as my oc 1900xt...

its like maybe 7% faster... which is pathetic, it must be the drivers there is no way they spend this much time and money to make something where comparisons are on the drastic difference between say a 7900 compared to a x1600 its not even CLOSE, this card was supposed to be faster not get destroyed, something is fishy in that review

ill wait until toms or anandtech does something on the card...

Odd that in their other test, the Overclocked 2900XT scores almost on par with the 8800GTX @ 650.

Going to wait for a few more sources. DT is the new Inq.

Although if it truley does suck, I've not missed anything by waiting, if anything, it's release will probably drive the 8800 prices right down.

Would also very much like to see DX10 performance, because, that's ultimately what we're buying them for, and there some word on the wire about R600's comparitivly weak DX9 performance.

Possibly why Nv realesed the 8800 so early? It is the top performer now, but then again, the 5950 wasnt too bad against the 9800XT in the early days of DX9; now it doesnt hold a candle to current titles while I can still chug along better on that XT I was doubted for buying....

Pitch has it right: which is why I dont expect stellar DX9 performance.
