i dont get the overclocking... do you need a 6 pin AND and 8 pin!!!

i dont feel like buying ANOTHER new powersupply either

thats another like 200 you have to spend just to get what you want to out of this card....

most of our cards dont even HAVE an 8 pin, let alone an 8 and a 6... this is not cool, its unacceptable in my opinion

then why does every review i read online say that you cannot overclock and the overdrive function isnt available unless there is an 8 pin plugged in??

will a 6 pin by itself be enough? and is that information incorrect??? bc no way im buying a power supply for no reason when mine is plenty o power for me

2x6pin overclock, 800/1000(first time selecting clocks, BTW, just picked a speed, set it, and ran 3dmark) from 740/830:

so MAYBE there still is hope... and the drivers are still kinda beta, so scores and benches might still get higher once they make a good driver

hmmmmm maybe there will be a good warcat driver out in the near future with some tests of this card

if i can get one for like 250 through my accomodation pricing i might buy one... no idea if it will be on the site yet though for our purchasing

Have you had 8800GTX's Dave or are you purely ATI now?

Those numbers in DX10 sure are impressive. And 3DMark is awesome. I do have to say that i never realised FC could look that pretty. TBH, i'll probably end up getting one of these over an NV card.

Also, do ya think you can measure the length of the card for me please.

Card is 9.45 inches, weighs about 2-3 lbs, idles @ 60c, and loads @ 78...I had 8800's, but sold them, as the drivers were far too buggy at the time for me to deal with.

Yep, in a case. My gpu does not have any writing on it...probably a measure to lower leakage. I have also noted that the heatsink DID NOT CONTACT THE MEMORY AT ALL, ALTHOUGH THERE WERE PADS THERE FOR CONTACT!!

The heatsink was not attached very well. either. I replaced TIM with AS5, replaced heatsink with far tighter screwing , and noticed a 5c drop in temps right away.

And I was benching 875/1050 last night...tonight may be a far different story.

Metal part of cooler is most definately copper through and through, BTW.

hi dave

1. how does it fold?
2. can you measure idle power consumption? or can you compare it with a 1950pro/xt?
3. has the 1950pro and the 2900xt the same layout, so I can use my waterblock on one of these heaters?

I wonder what ATI have up their sleeves for the future, perhaps a 3000XT or something, they certainly need to recover lost ground.

A 1GB card would make all the difference in the world, along with a minor twaek to the gpu. Clockspeed needs to be 950 or 1000mhz, IMHO tho.

Power consumption is almost on par w/ two x1950's.

Waterblock will ahve to be a custom unit...the shim is very much thicker than gpu, to the point that the bottom of the stock heatsink has a "protrusion" just slightly smaller than the inside of the shim, to ensure contact with the gpu.

FAH...well... 1/2 a teraflop of crunching power. How well do ya think it folds?(terabyte demo written by Stanford, AFAIK, btw).

what about the mounting holes around the gpu, same as x1950?
