New 3DMark05 World Record - 2900XT CrossFire

Nordic Hardware have a new world record:

Overclocker elmor has now shown that Radeon HD 2900 XT CrossFire is the king of 3DMark 05. It wasn't long ago when Kinc managed to set a new single-card 3DMark 05 world record, but elmor has now broken the overall world record with a CrossFire system, using only air cooling for the cards!

Hehe, 05 is a matter of the past. Why buy new cards and run old benches? 06 in now reflecting the best the new games. The king in06 is the card that runs best current games and this is a fact !

Old or new bench, it doesn't matter to me. Those 2x 2900's are kicking some serious ass!

I can't believe he's got the record w/o water cooling those heaters. Ack!

@ Chrisbard - I have to wonder how much synthetic benchmarks really relate to real-world gaming power. But I think that whether you have a 8800 or a 2900 you have a very good card

True.

Further along in the review they give some gaming results: http://techreport.com/reviews/2007q2.../index.x?pg=11

The hell? G80 is performing more like a traditional DX9 card than a Unified part. It vertex performance should be equal to it's Pixel performance if it unified. I wonder if there are driver issues at hand.

But I've said it before. I very much doubt we'll see R600's power until we see DX10 games. (Eg coded DX10 from the bottom up, not patch - COH and Lost Planet)

Those are AMD's tests. If you look at the AMD website, you can find a couple of graphs demonstrating the supposed speed advantage AMD's top X2 has over the Core2Duo.

Then theres their comparison between intel and AMD systems, showing 10 times the frame rates: http://www.amdassets.com/comparison/

Not zee most impartial of benchmarkers :P

The other benches and measurements in the link to Tech Report are not ATI/AMD's. The HD2900 I don't think was intended as an assault on Nv's top cards, but it competes with the 8800 GTS.

Ofcourse it's impartial, I wasn't referring to the way R600 seems to magically stomp G80.

What I was picking at was G80's weird Vertex:Pixel performance. The results are mirrored in the 3dmark05 bench, which breaks down pixel and shader performance, 60 doesn't afaik.
