They work fine for me but I have been fighting a stuttering issue for a month now since upgrading from a Nvidia 5950 agp 256 to a 7950 agp 512. I also upgraded my monitor from a 17"crt to a 22" wide screen flat panel. If anybody has any ides on how to stop the stuttering I would love to hear it. I have a Compaq Gaming X with 1.75 gig of ram. I didn't really have the stuttering issues with the old card and monitor.

Sorry I misread the thread. I have been using that version for about 3 days now and still get the stutter. It happens about once every 5 minutes of usuage

Can you better describe the stutter?

It would best described as graphics farts but I digress. It is usually small screen freezes not amounting to .1 of seconds but they will happen in sequences of 3. In other words it will go pop, pop, pop and the fps will drop and then it will return back to normal and stay that way for a while and then it will happen all over again. Some have asked "does it happen in the same place in the game or application?" No it is random. VSync is off and all settings are maxed for performance and not quality. The fps is good usually around 85-114 but the stutter makes it very hard to control what you are doing at that moment. ![]()

Nope I did a complete reinstall of XP. There are no services and I close email prior to using the program. I wish I had more information but all I can say is it it started after I upgraded from the lower end card. I am sure I was using the 70 version drivers before with out issue but I don't think they will work with this card. IT isn't like it makes the program unusable it is just a huge annoyance. Such an annoyance I have started saving for a completely new comp after spending $500 to upgrade this one.

The 162.18 drivers are supposed to work across pretty much the entire spectrum of cards, according to nVidia. AFAIK, though, the 92 and 93 series should work with that card also. I have no idea why you would get that error message. Last edited by Gizmo; 13th August, 2007 at 04:27 PM. |

I would suggest downloading drivercleaner Pro, and completely removing all NVidia display drivers using that. *download drivercleaner *uninstall nvidia drivers *reboot into safe mode *run drivercleaner to remove the leftovers *install the drivers again What game is it in by the way, and is there any overclocking? Tell me what exact ram configuration are you using? it sounds very strange, like you are using 1X 1GB, 1X 512MB and 1X 256MB. If this is the case, I would also remove all but the 1GB stick and try again.

While you're at it, tell me, are you using the default HP PSU? And if you are, do you know what the power rating is? Nvidia GPUs, particularly monsters like that are power hungry and will cause brown outs, shifting into low power mode when it happens.
