200 Watts and that huge subwoofer is definitely going to shake the house. Nice setup. $150 isn't too bad either.
My surround sound is pieced together from different speakers and my front left/right are a nice $250 Sony shelftop system.
So it sounds good but not unified.

Ah, not dollars, pounds. So the RRP would be $300. I paid in equivalent dollars $185.
Can't wait!

I got my wife a Z series set about a year ago or so. They do rock. Had to turn the base down so she could use the computer without waking everyone in the house. LOL

I don't know the conversion from pounds to dollars or frugals or anything else.
So you spent $185?

Must say, the Swiss do know how to make speakers.

Have had Z-680s and more recently Z-5500s for a long time now, and they really do put to shame packages that cost three or four times their price, particularly among the BOSE's and Klipsch's of the world.

Trying to think of the last time one of the many Logitech products I've purchased has gone wrong... Can't think of anything.

I would have got the 5500s and although brilliant value for money, were considering I'm a poor student, out of my budget.
I also decided that as I mainly use them for music, 5.1s would kind have been put to waste.
I can't wait.

I only have Creative P5800s at the moment, a 5.1 with a total of 72 Watts. So this is a BIG leap up for me...

Don't forget that given equally efficent drivers (speakers), doubling power doesn't double the sound output. Generally, if you want double the volume you need to multiply the power output by 10!

The thing you should notice, given that the drivers are of good quality, is a great sound range. More wattage "can" increase your listening experience especially at lower volumes. You will lot have to crank it up to get great low and high frequency response. This in turn will make it "feel" louder.

Thats the first thing I noticed. The bass is also smooth and powerful even at a low volume too. It's VERY smooth but still incredibly defined.

This is too good. Perhaps I've been brought up on low quality audio equip....but I don't care what anyone says, these are incredible!

Is it only me who thinks speakers like these are a bit sexual?

Efficiencey is the big difference though.

The 680s at max volume, all 505W of it, pales in comparison to a pair of Klipschorns with only 50W going into them.

You can run them off a 1W amp, and get 100+ db out of them.

In comparison, a pair of STAX Omega IIs (the best headphones ever made) produce 100 db from 50W, and that is a pair of headphones that sit 1cm from your ear.

Thats insane.

What really impresses me is how well the sound fills a big room. With my Creatives, its all well and good if your only within a few feet. But move far away and the sound weakens.
With these Logitechs, the sound is equally strong and has the same volume wherever you are in the room.
