Freezes just for a second, then runs as normal after that?

it has been happening a lot more recently now.
it will freeze, then the screen will go black, my monitor's light will turn orange (instead of green), then the screen will come back on and and it will be frozen. i usually have to restart at this point.

Are you OCing the card at all?

Try a different driver, maybe an older one.

i am not..overclocking (that is what ocing means right?) that i am aware of. i have tried many different drivers. it seems that my video card especially does not like it when i use my scroll feature on my mouse.
i even tried taking my video card out and putting it back in. no luck.

It might be that running it off a cheap PSU, before you got the new one, has caused some damage to the video card.

Is it possible to test your video card in another system, friend's computer?

do all these issues go away when running your onboard?

If so, it may be damage to your card.

If not - it could be damage to something else (basically anything that uses power could be hurt), cheap PSU's will do that, or you may need as OS format/reinstall.

Dodgy power will corrupt more than hardware. Issues in power fluctuations when writing to your HDD will also cause software issues.

Use something like prime95 or CPU burn to test your CPU, and memtest86 to test your RAM to check those.

I did the mem test and it said I passed all the tests. I downloaded CPU burn and read the instructions, and frankly they scare me a little.

basically its a disclaimer.

What it does, it run your CPU at 100%. But making sure it tests it fully. Those if us who run F@H do something similar ~24hrs a day 7days a week (for me this has been running on this PC for ~1yr or longer). This is only slightly more stressfull. What we want to see is if your CPU has a fault, or overheats. If you CPU has a problem it will error within a few seconds. If it overheats it will be about 5-15min.

Prime 95 torture blend test is good for testing RAM + CPU at the same time, and will error really quickly.

Then if you run a couple of benchmark tools like 3dmark01.3dmark03 and let us know if you have video pixelations (not rendering correctly), or errors, which could mean a vid card problem.

Memtest86 fully tests your RAM (something similar to CPU burn for CPU) and checks for any erorrs. A pass is a very good thing at this stage.

I ran the CD burn for 30 minutes and no errors came up.
This problem absolutely goes away with just using my onboard video card.
I cannot return this to newegg now right? Since it was my fault I messed it up, with my crappy psu.

Like Newegg knows or cares more than you wish to tell them?

If you followed noob's 3 Nov instructions exactly, it may be the Vidcard. Could you please post what brand it is? If you've already got an RMA authorization number from Newegg, hopefully you'll get a replacement card. Fingers are crossed!

Sneaky, Daniel.
I did follow noob's instructions, actually a few times because I tried different releases of the drivers hoping one would help.
It is an EVGA.

There in no way does it state using a POS PSU voids the warantee. As long as your PSU had the right cetifications on the side (not sure what they are for the US) - FCC, etc, you are able to RMA.

OEM computer PSU's are probably just as bad as that thing you had.

Bad card, no overclocking, no changing heatsink, ramsink, etc, go for an RMA. they shouldn't ask system specs, just what happens with the card - even with they do, they ask what you have in your system. You have a TT PSU, honestly, as you threw away the POS before the RMA.

Just make sure you let them know the CPU and RAM have been tested and work fine.

I filed for an RMA and am planning to send it out tomorrow. I sure hope this was the problem and not my video card..slot instead. I do not have another video card to test this out though.
