The 8800 GTS 320s and a great upgrade. Seems like everyone is swearing by these.

With that rig, you'll benefit far more from a 640mb. The 320's get nailed with the increased texture size in DX10.

Nvida GF 9 series cards will be released in November so you might want to hold out. Don't want to pay a few hundred for a card this month and have a better one come out at the same price next month. An 8800 GTS wouldn't be a giant upgrade from your current card.

G92 will be released in November 2007 timeframe in the form of "GeForce 9800" series.

"G92" GeForce 9800 GTX specs.

- 65nm process technology at TSMC.
- Over one billion transistors.
- Second Generation Unified Shader Architecture.
- Double precsion support (FP64).
- GPGPU native.
- Over one TeraFLOPS of shader processing power.
- MADD+ADD configuration for the shader untis (2+1 FLOPS=3 FLOPS per ALU)
- Fully Scalar design.
- 512-bit memory interface.
- 1024MB GDDR4 graphics memory.
- DirectX 10.1 support.
- OpenGL 3.0 Support.
- eDRAM die for "FREE 4xAA".
- built in Audio Chip.
- built in tesselation unit (in the graphics core"
- Improved AA and AF quality levels

G96 will be released in Nov, I doubt G92 will be though. Also, the card won't have FP64. This will only work in Tesla configurations.

Great to see you about Razorfish!

Would it be to much to ask that if manufactures insist on numbering parts that they do so sequentially? How much easier to know what you are buying! What sense does it make to release a 96, then a newer 92?? Or to call a 92 your 9800?

You could be waiting until 2008, before any really new cards are around, and in plentiful supply.

The current 8800s are excellent cards. You can't go far wrong with one of those.
