NVIDIA Debuts Considerably Cooler GeForce 8800 GT

NVIDIA today launches its newest mainstream part, the GeForce 8800 GT

NVIDIA today is set to launch its newest midrange graphics card part, the GeForce 8800 GT, previously known by its codename G92. NVIDIA guidance states that its newest graphics card will be sold at a retail price in the $199 and $249 price range.

not bad Chris, missed you on MSN a couple of times

Spent a LONG time away from the PC due to work committments but just about to do some upgrades again. Got a 8800GT coming and a nice new Samsung 20"

I read somewhere that this new 8800 GT does a halfway decent job keeping up with its big brothers while being considerably cheaper, much more power efficient and last but not least quieter.

SUPPOSEDLY.... this card has the same mount points as the 7000's soooooo from what i am reading, the 7 series aftermarket coolers will fit this card

dont take my word for it, thats what ive read, i will investigate a little bit!

Card's still not here yet, it's sitting in the citylink depot, they won't let me go in and pick it up

Interesting

Arrived today and threw it in. Running with an E6400 at stock, 2GB XMS6400 at stock, just installed the drivers from the CD over the top of the old ones and scores took a bit of a jump

3dm06 from 3800 to 9212
3dm01 from 19000 to 35099

Old scores were with a 7800GTX

Card looks like it's got a LOT of performance

Now there's an all new 8800GTS, which out-performs the earlier GTS, and new GT:

Yep, but for just over £150 this things a beast I seem to remember spending about £180 of a 4400 Ti

Doh, just cehcked the memory and it was running an 667, now 36509. I remember being right on the edge trying to break 10K

Running my "old" 8800 640 DDR 3 GTS at 659 (gets flaky, freezes, after that} and 1.4 Ram, starts streaking light in the "sprites section of 3DM 06. after that,These are my best settings for perfect performance. Water cooled card, E6600 duel core.

still haven't clocked this thing but just set up the system up properly. Taken the initial score from 35099 to 36700, that's a 5% improvement through just doing the basics Oh how lazy I have been
