What i want to know; Have they fixed the Transparency AA problem with WoW in these new cards?

Also, doesn't the 8800GT have more Texture units than these new 48XX series cards?

Unsure there was one.

Yes, the 8800GT has 56 TMUs, the R770 has 40. However, 40 almost seems over kill as the R770 has 480 GB/s of Texture Cache Bandwidth.

At a rather attractive price too; I'll jump the second newegg gets them back in stock.

edit:

With the revival of the AIW line and the price of a new top shelf GPU being near $300, I must say it feels great.
I missed ATI being the premier card and these 4xxx cards are just that. Performance without the bank-breaking cost.

The good times are back.

Both cards are identical in performance with the 3870x2 so its not something awesome. Id rather wait for the NVIDIA GTX revision in september.

While I don't have a card in hand, most of the reviews coming out indicate better numbers than the 3870X2.

Ive seen a few benchmarks where the 3870x2 is better and many in which its worse by a few FPS and nothing rational.

I fully expect ATi to drop a 4870X2 in the not too distant future. Right now, there's no sense in it. nVidia, while having the faster card cannot compete at the price level. The 9800GTX+ can't cut it and the GT260 desperately needs a die shrink.

A GT260 X2 might be foreseable but not at 65nm. The Gt280 X2 is simply out of the question.

I think AMD's in a fantastic position here, and I truly think R770 has alot of unlocked potential, since, even the 4850 has a 100GFlop Lead on the GT280.

Things are getting interesting, especially with ATi (AMD) working with Havok (Intel) to incorperate Havok FX GPU processing on their cards. What will happen next? Apple distributing through Dell?

Lets not forget what increase we can see from AMD in the next couple driver realeses...

I agree with Pitch, things are looking great right now.
