Tv out problems

I recently got a geforce 7300 le pci-e video card. I'm haveing trouble with drivers. None of the 177.** work at all. The wallpaper shows but no desktop.
Other drivers work to the point that I can use them but the s-video is in black & white. I'm using 162.18 at the moment but its the same for 6 or 7 others. I've tried changing all kinds of settings that I'm not familiar with but it doesn't change, the tv is in b/w. Any body know what is wrong?

I have seen them go B&W when they are set for PAL rather than NTSC.. Outside of that I never had much luck with nvidia and the S-Video. Decent success using an S-video to RCA or RGB adapter.

S-Video in black and white may be because the card is set to produce a composite video feed.

If you got the wallpaper but no desktop (it's working fine in that case) then you're probably running in multimonitor mode, where the desktop is on both monitors (Just that your icons are only on the primary). If you want identical pictures on both monitors you need to change the mode it's operating in.

Problem solved

The no color problem has been solved. At some point I must have forced the connection because there was a pin bent on the male s-video cable. Fixed that and bingo-color tv.

Yeah, that'd fix it too. At least you only bent the pin carrying colour information - otherwise you'd not got any picture!

Here is a little side issue that came to lite trying to track down the color problem. I've got a DVI-I adapter to vga so I thought to hook that up and I've another adapter that I thought was vga to s-video, see where I'm going with this? I'd have my monitor hooked to the DVI-I and the tv through the regular vga. The monitor worked fine but what I thought was VGA to S-video wasn't right. I don't know what that connection is but not s-video.
So I plugged the S-Video back in and nothing.
While I had the monitor connected to the DVI-I port the S-Video was closed. I plugged the monitor back into the vga port and s-video worked. It's just a curiosity.
