I just never had any problems withXP and the 'system' I've set up for wipeing C:\ clean and then reinstall.
ccp isn't to far off. When you are the only one to tell yourself what to do in any given situatin-I screwed up a lot of good running machines, all mine. I know how to clean XP and put it back together in the right sequence so that at a certion point it's a rock every time!

Now Itt's OJT with Vista x64-though I can't ell you why.
I'm seriously concidering leaving vista alone for now and put XP PRO SP3 back up yo snuff and then diong another Cat Carrior Mod.
Before everone goes 'here he goes agian"
I need a project-I havent healed enough to do anything heavy and it would be a benafit for makeing a run at 4.50G. A lot of ventalation there.

I just have to figure a way to sell the idea to Mareen so she doesn't cut off my precious in the middle of the nite!

While I don't use vista, I know plenty of people that use it daily without issue. I would tend to spend more time learning and adjusting your user practices rather than reinstalling yet again.

No, its more simple than that...
You just rightclick the installation package, then with WinRAR extract the contents to a folder choosing that option in the rightclick context menu. (Screenshot)

In that folder is the PhysX package just sitting there all by itself.
So just delete the old one & copy/paste the new one in its place. (in the folder of the Beta 185.20 drivers)
So now when the installation package looks for the PhysX software to install, it will use the new one instead of the old one.

OR, you can just install it as is , then install the new PhysX software once it's extracted from the 182.06 package as a stand alone installation.

Does that make sense?
