Headphones?

Thinking of picking up a new set of cans. Right now the grado 225i are looking pretty good. I have the igrado and they sound pretty sweet with their in your face sound. I found a place that says they will sell me the grado 225i for $159 which although it is a real good price for mid end grados it is still a chunk of change to me.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I feel as though I might be missing out as the Forte soundcard I picked up has a headphone amp and maybe my non audiophile ears would appreciate better sound quality than my low end igrados.

I am not going to buy for a little over a week from now, still shopping for prices and opinions. Knowing myself I will probably get the 225i cans but I would be interested in hearing opinions from other non audiophiles that have tried/switched to better quality cans.

Thanks for your opinion, I know some do not like grados but some love them.

I almost decided on some earbuds, techPowerUp :: Yuin PK1 Ear Buds Review :: Page 1 / 4 , but really want full sized cans.

The Grados are a good choice if you like that style (very forward and as you say "in your face" sound). The alternatives from Sennheiser, AKG and the like give a more natural and neutral sound very unlike the Grado sound. If your music sounds good on Grados, go with them, I've got a pair of 325is that are perfectly matched for metal music and some gaming. Then the Sennheisers are better suited for more layed back or electronic music.
