Shopping time!

Two weeks ago I received my Associates and my Dad decided to give me a graduation present.

I found out today that he wanted to buy me a Toshiba Thrive. As he was talking to me about it I thought to myself, my phone does all the things I want out of an Android device and I don't know what I would really use it for except to waste more of my time I don't have. My next thought was save him some money and get a new video card for my set up.

I think that the video card is better suited for me because I would rather play BF3 over messing with a tablet that I would end up rooting and voiding the warranty on anyway.

I have about no more than $300 to play with for a new card. What would you guys suggest I get that will be worth while and do the best for me, BF3 and my system.

Thanks!

How about a GTX 560?

$300 is plenty, $200 or so is probably enough. Unless you want to drive multiple monitors, or one at very high res.

When I get the card am I able to just uninstall the nVidia drivers for my 8800gts or should I do a fresh install of 7?

Not tried with Win 7.

But, I think you need to uninstall the nVidia drivers and any nVidia programs, shutdown, fit new card, then install the Radeon drivers.

Talking

Reinstalling windows every month should do the trick and help with the occasional lag, might make your experience more enjoyable. Then there are people who don't have to worry about gfx cards and have no lag when they play their games on the XBOX!

I do, after I realized that it did not come with any power adapters and my psu only had one 6-pin power connector. I had to run to Fry's Electronics 30 min away just to be able to turn the card on to see if it worked.

Ill take screens. Fraps drops the performance as it is and make it even worse unless you know a setting in fraps that doesn't drop the fps.

I am not talking about recording with fraps, you just run fraps or any other command inside the game(if available) that will show you the fps then take a picture or make a screenshot. Fraps usually drops the performance when you use the video recording.
