power supply

I would like to use a power supply for 7 fan's the 12v line is rated at 17a so i know im not over loading. not sure how the power supply deals with no motherboard is it safe??

It's no problem at all, but you will have to make a shunt for the MB connector. Connect the green lead to ground; that means you have to run a wire in the connector from the one green location to any of the black ones. If you don't do this, the power supply will not start.

Yes, you can use the power supply for it. Sometimes a burden resistor is required, but generally you can get away without using one. Your biggest issue might be turning the thing on/off.

thxs for the fast reply lads. iv got a switch on the psu so tuning off/on is no problem. This psu will power 7-8 fans for the best part of 8 hours a day. I have gave it a test and it all work's fine. would it still be ok for such a long time? I can't see why not but iv only ever test psu and never been ask about using them in this way be for. thxs again
