8500 Le

hello

ok, you probably answered this question a million times, but i'm gonna ask it anyways. i'm new here and did'nt really want to go trought all the post to see if this subject has already been made.

I have a ATI Radeon 8500 LE, and i want to overclock the thing. since i dont know much about overclocking, i did some researchj on the net and i found this little prog called "radeonator". is anyone able to tell me if its good? if not, wich should i get? or what other way could i use to do so.

another thing. the radeon 8500LE is clocked 250/250 for core and memory speed, anyone can tell me how high i can set those 2 without causing any damage to the card? i would'nt want to fry the thing....

thank you very much in advance for your answers

i use powerstrip its a great proggy, and easy to uninstall (rage3d tweak did hell with my registry).....you can probably get to 275/275 without problems, but i suggest you inch up the speeds by 5 mhz each time, and then run 3dmark to see if there are any graphical anomalies...if there arent then normally there isnt much risk and then you can bump up the speed more....

I used powerstrip as well with my prior ATI card. It's pretty simple/straight forward.

Only increase the core and memory speeds by 5mhz increments (this will avoid setting it too high). Increase the core and memory speeds independently.

When raising by 5mhz increments, run a 3d application. If you don't see any changes in the image (distortions or "artifacts" as we call them), then it's running stable. Raise it some more. Once you see any distortions/artifacts (you'll know them when you see them), lower the speed back 5mhz and that's your core/memory's maximum it will run stable.
