Toshiba Cable Modem

Has anyone OC'ed a Cable Modem or seen any good articles on the subject? I would like to "uncapp" mine. The thought of up/downloads speed around 1000kbs make me look like a kid on Christmas morning .

Be aware that uncapping your link (assuming that your provider is that dumb...) will certainly be against the contract you have with your provider! What the legal ramifications would be at that point I wouldn't want to guess.

At least you're not in Ohio:

Believe me, I've been to jail and being happy there is quite a stretch for even the most vivid of imaginations!

Been there once or twice myself, never could get use to it or like it. Think I'll just be happy with my 350 - 550kbs up/down speed .

That's a saner attitude, me thinks!
Ther are however many tweaks you can do that are completely legal listed in the links I posted above. Another utility comes to mind called cablenut that was highly rated in several pc magazines. I have used it and found it did help my connection.
I just now ran this test and the results speak for themselves.

You think? With profiling tools and MAC database, it gets to be quite easy to track such things down, as there's no way you can avoid transmitting a MAC address!

As for who owns bandwidth, it's the provider who's spent all that cash in order to be able to roll out a service to you.

Can you say margin of error?
lol, by the way this is with adsl from AOL (I hate AOL) witch is way below average in DLS speeds. I keep geeting results that are either too fast or too slow. Know of any other tests?
