OC, I may concider it

Hey, I basicly jound this forum to get 3DMark at a decent speed but don't think of me to shalow I have quite a taste for hardware, but enough of the small talk.

I have recently killed my computer and brought it back with a MIS KM4M-L MOBD and a AMD XP 2200+ and I was wondering is this setup clockable. I know MSI makes OC boards but is mine one of them because in the fequency options in the BIOS i got like to options that have no realtion to OC

Is your XP2200+ an unlocked chip or a newer locked one?

So you won't be able to change the multiplier, but you can still up the FSB a little. What memory do you have?

Can you change the FSB with that board?

Read your mobo manual. It states on like page 2-7 or something that the default FSB is 100MHz and that if you have a 133 or 166MHZ FSB CPU you need to change it BIOS. It also says that your board suports overclocking but doesn't go into detail about how or what functions.

See if you can raise your FSB 1MHz at a time.

You will need to disable spread spectrum before overclocking, yes.

I am just downloading the manual and I'll have a look at the BIOS settings...

I've looked at the manual and I don't think you can adjust the FSB, via the BIOS menu, in small increments. So, the next possibility would be to try to find a software tool which would allow you to change it from windows.

You would need to get a different motherboard first. Unlocking new Athlons isn't straightforward.

This might not be the correct thread to post this in but I was wondering it anyone could help me with someting.
I've been wondering about running 2* xp2800 on my Epox M762a and was looking at settings with wpcredit for the multiplier. (yes I know I would have to mod them).
Wpcredit says that my multiplier is 0011 which accroding to this post is a multiplier of 12.5 http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Ha.../amd762/5.html
However my current MP2400's run on a multiplier of 15.
can anyone tell me why wpcredit is reporting them at 12.5.
Im I reading it wrong.
Is there a way of setting a multiplier with wpcrset thats higher that 12.5
Would appreciate some help..

all recent XP processors are multiplier locked within the core of the processor itself. it cannot be changed.
to run two XP procs together, you would need to connect a bridge on the processor to make it an MP, but i forget exactly how to do this though.

that article is dated 2002, this was when XP processors were not multiplier locked.

Hi RussianMissile1
Im lead to beleave that you can turn the xp into a mp mobile with the bridges and then gain control over the multiplier again.
I would also probably have to alter the vcore to run them higher than 2.2 gig

Smile

Can anyone help me with the multiplier problem of wpcredit showing the multiplier as 12.5 on a system that runs 15.
I know its a old article but that should not change the fact that 0011 = 12.5 not 15.
Also can anoyne tell me if mp240 (bought before Amd started to lock multipliers) would be multiplier unlocked.
Im curious if I can also change the multipliers with wpcredit/set on my Epox m762a as there are no settings in the bios.
That was one of the reasons that I asked the question about wpcredit reporting my multiplier as 12.5

As you can see from the picture all the numerical binary options for 4 figures have been used. and there only seems to be 4 units that effect the multiplier
Any ideas.
