I mailed $400 in cash to a mate that was doing tough after a breakup and had nothing to eat. some tool ripped it off. The letter appeared unopened. He calls me and goes, "ash, you forgot to send the money man" to which i said, "like hell i did"

i guess a mailman would be an expert at opening mail without damaging it.

three weeks ago I sent a set of crystal shot glasses to a mate as a 21st present. the "fragile" sticker was the mistake. They read "fragile" as "throwable". Whats worse is he didnt see the chip and cut his top lip open on a glass. Happy birthday!

Bloody hell, is that how public servants are supposed to do their jobs?
Too right, mate.
Yeah, I know, what gives me the right to complain about other people's public servants?

Wait a minute, I thought we were looking for Romania on the map? Or was that Wales?

It's good to stop and think about the quality of the USPS for a minute. They are not all angels, nor geniuses. In general, they do a fine job. Thank you very much!

Australia is a gigantic country with a very low population density on much of its territory. I wonder if this has an affect on the postal service? I'm just asking.

No, its not that. The posties are not required to cover vast areas of land or do anything special. They are just lazy, good for nothing public servants.

Its easier to get a public service of government job in this country than it is to get a job testing dangerous new drugs. They dont ask you for qualifications, they ask you how long you have been unemployed. If its six months or over, you have a good chance of getting the job. Theres the old saying give a guy a fair go, and that seams to be applied in too many cases without merit.

If he was unemployed, there is a good chance there was a reason he was unemployed. Yet he gets the job anyway, just to get him off welfare etc.

All branches of the public service have this same fatal flaw over here. Thank god for privatisation. If it werent for that we would be living in communist russia.

Thank you for the AOA badge boost, dsio!

I thought that Australia was the Antipodes for years. Wrong again. It turned hard Right about ten years ago, along with much of the English-speaking world. Looks like emigrating there won't change things all that much.

This hiring of lazy incompetents sounds good! Not really, looking busy is much more difficult than being busy. It drove me around the bend, so I stopped being a Reservist. Smart move, back then your contract didn't have a clause that said "You are our's for forever and a day."

Buy war bonds!

What about Tasmania? An old friend really loved the place, I'm curious. A bit OT, sorry.

Tasmanians...

Well, its like this. Im sure you being an american, there are a few of "those" states, where you have to accept the fact that they are american, but you wish they werent. Theyre like the people that live down the street that live off welfare and have inbred children. Theres no need to be rude to them, just turn the other cheek, and pretend them, and the rest of their 3 eyed 1 armed clan didnt exist.

Tasmanians are much the same.

For a very long time now we have been trying to give Tasmania to the New Zealand people, who seam to have a lot in common with Tasmanians, but even the New Zealand prime minister wont take it (they elected a woman as head of state... not that theres anything wrong with that... The country just changes its mind every 10 seconds).

The people who live there like it, mainly because they dont know a better place exists.

It was even left off a centenary coin at one stage, "by accident"

Most times, misunderstanding brings fear. In Aus, misunderstanding brings a gun.
