Anyone else a Joe Bageant fan? I didn't understand why rednecks were rednecks. In "Deer Hunting With Jesus" he explains why. Joe Bageant is worth a look, imho.

Wonder if I'll find a way to decrease my cable bill in "Cable Customer's Bill of Rights" from my fair city?

Obama is worse than Nixon? Wow! You are aware that Nixon deliberately scuttled the Vietnam peace negotiation just before his election, right? (Told the N.V. they'd be able to get a better deal if they waited for him to be elected -- totally blew Johnson's re-election bid, since the appearing certain peace treaty to a highly unpopular war suddenly and inexplicably failed, the N.V. walked out!) How many more young lives do you suppose that cost (on both sides) in the ensuing years before the U.S. evacuation (without a peace treaty)? Again -- Wow! What is it Obama did that's so bad?

I've tried and tried and find there is nothing I can say to express my outrage at both parties...The Dems at lest tell the right lies while the Republican’s have cultivated madness of a particularly vicious sort...

I fear there will be blood before we gain a democracy from the the Rich....

I never voted for Nixon, yet in retrospect, at least he was an "honest" crook. Perhaps our present Preznit will be seen in this light in the future, but I highly doubt it. "Out-Bushing" Bush seemed impossible in early 2009, but Obama did it and does it more every day.

Hard to believe the people will ever get the upper hand, when we sell each other out at the drop of a hat...sigh...

I really doubt "the people" will indeed ever get the "upper hand" simply because all the evils are indeed of the people, they always have been. Given the opportunity, most of "the people" would be only too happy to elevate to "rich" and "powerful" and "influential" status and not so very long after begin to lord it over others. The fundamental problem is that of "human" nature, we just aren't especially sublime critters. Watching the daily NEWS makes that clear.

Guess that's what gives birth to "breakout" communities such as Jonesville, however, how many "leaders" can be trusted to place the welfare of the "flock" at the forefront of the community. I suspect somewhere between precious few to none. The number one concern to man is generally himself, and it's simply expecting too much to even hope that any person will subordinate that in favor of the welfare of others. Not to say it never happens, but any degree of expectation is simply folly.

Still not clear on what you're decrying. If you have a specific criticism, please feel free to be specific, that way we'll understand your complaint !

The situation is indeed difficult, but perfectly clear...we do actually get the Government we deserve... unfortunately we get the government the lowest common denominator deserves ....

We are chained to the education of our neighbours children and can not escape the consequences of neglect.

One hole is sufficient to sink a boat...

As we get the gummint that we deserve, there's no point in detailing my gripes about our man in the White House. But as an inveterate complainer, let me say that negating Habeus Corpus and the 4th and 5th Amendments to the erstwhile Bill of Rights irk me a little.
It's true that Bush the younger initiated these outrages, yet President Obama ran a cargo ship through the initial holes torn through the legal fabric of our country. imho.

Are you referring to Gitmo and perhaps the drone attacks?

No, the outrages you detail stand on their own. I refer to the fact of the delightful police state we're blessed with. All of our former civil rights no longer stand, except the one prohibiting the quartering of soldiers in our homes. It's nice that that one still stands, yet the loss of free speech, reasonable safety against search and seizure, 24/7 warrantless surveillance of every communication of every kind and the fact that you can be locked up incommunicado for the rest of your life for no real reason at all kind of bother me.
Mr Obama has abrogated the Magna Charta for crying out loud. He claims the right to murder you anywhere at any time. What can I say to that, other than Sieg Heil, Your Majesty?

Thanks! Thought I spotted a few storm troopers outside of the local family planning center recently, part of it?

As far as I can tell both parties are finger puppets for the the evil rich...

The easy way to fix this is that we tax them to death.

But they own, well... EVERYTHING.

That leaves a very messy methodology with a very uncertain outcome.

Revolution has never been safe nor pretty and it's out come only really guarantees that there will be blood and there will be change.

But I'm told that Revolution, like nourishment, comes in it's own time. In the course of the year, in the lives of men, revolution comes in its own time.

For this we must wait.

There's truth in the old saw that says: Those that make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable. This is a land where counter-revolution is a well developed art form. Candidly, it's what we do. So "Sieg heil, Your Majesty" has become a popular song in my house, as misguided as that might be.

I don't see any way to change the direction of the ship of state. All I can do is change myself for the better, and that's darned near impossible.
