No they are fine, P4's have temp protection anyway, i think its set to 74c. If it ever gets that hot the cpu will slow itself down to reduce the temperature, you wont get any damage till it gets to about 100c + anyways.
as long as its stable dont worry too much.

Personally I think that this is a bit high. I have the same processor with a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ at medium fan speed with Ceramique applied, and it only gets to 36 C idle and 50 C load with that crummy heatsink/fan combo at 3016 mhz. What kind of rpms is that fan running at?

you live in differn't places, have different ambient temperaturs, have different cases, cpu cooling, fans and airflow. i'd say your temps were prolly pritty similar in relative terms.

I guess I left out the most important part of what I was thinking at the time of the reply, I am getting my new SLK-900 along with a tornado delivered this afternoon to keep those temps low.

Hmm, to me, this seems to be a bit high. Have you tried lapping your processor and heat sink? Even though my new slk 900 has a very high quality finish on the base, I am still going to polish it up to get rid of all those small little groves in there from the machining process. I lapped my volcano 7+'s heat sink and it dropped the average temp of the idle and load by 2-3 degrees. You are in the safe zone I would say for your temps, but cooler is better right?

my processor came pre-lapped since my comp was custom built -- some copper shows from under the top material on the proc.

its really a pain in the *ss to take the heatsink on and off the processor, so ill leave it the way it is. i guess it just could be the room temp that affects the temp so much.

oh well, i can always screw around with my brother's amd 2400+ @2.4 GHz w/ idle temp of 29C

just a little bump.

what is the voltage that you are using to achieve 3.1GHz?
