Asus P4R800-V Deluxe BIOS Problem

I just got an Asus P4R800-V Deluxe motherboard and a prized P4 3.4E processor. My trouble starts with the motherboard. The BIOS version on the board right now is 1003 and the minimum BIOS version for the Prescott CPU is 1005 and preferably 1008. I have never owned a P4 processor before and I face a problem. How do I flash the BIOS?

Can I do it when the processor is not plugged in? Can I do it with the processor still in the board?

This is a really urgent matter for me. I would readily accept any advice. Please keep in mind though that I don't want to spend money if I don't have to.

i didn't know P4E were prescotts there something esle i don't know want to do i can get u the bios if u wood like and posted it something they r installable u click on it and it installs on the A: 4 u should have got a MAX 3 cause i have the bios 4 them

Do you know what BIOS is running on your board? AFU or AWD. It seems that the Asus website is pretty unclear. But from what I can gather it's AWD.

This is the file, however the instructions are pretty unclear:P4rv1008 Any idea what BIOS your are using. Award ect?

They use AMI BIOS and you should still be able to boot into DOS with the chip installed and flash the BIOS without issues. The problem with the Prescott is power consumption anyway, so I really don't think the BIOS update will help stabilize the board, only for recognition purposes.
