Intel's overclocking lock for the chipsets 915/925 is only dependant on North Bridge Voltage.

That is good news, but if the new PCI-E cards don't like high FSB and there isn't a fix for the lock, then we are still gonna be screwed for a while. I think the best bet now is simply an AGP version of the X800 or 6800....then wait until the next improvement in chipsets, PCI-E fixes.
