Odd Centrino behavior.

My laptop seems to throttle excessively. Even when I have it plugged in, it frequently drops to 600Mhz and stays there. I'm puzzled as to why this is happening, anyone have any ideas?

It's kinda embarrassing...

I had the power management setting set to "laptop" instead of "home office/desk" like I normally do. In the laptop mode, even when powered by AC, SpeedStep kicks in and throttles the CPU. Normal operating speed in laptop mode is about 600Mhz. I was sorting through a spreadsheet and working with a couple of other windows when I first noticed it.
