Best system for overclocking

Im building a system for a mate of mine, and im curious (this is all based on having liquid cooling or an XP120 heatsink on it) what is the best way to overclock. Ive heard nForce4 are good. What are your opinions?

This is not just a little overclock, i want to push say a 3400+ or a 3.4ghz to like 3.8 or 4.0ghz (3800+, 4000+, respectively).

I want to overclock this puppy to hell and back.

Also do P4's have multiplyer locks?

What reliable overclockable boards have PCI/AGP locks?

I would go for a gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI board and throw a 3500 Winny at it.. Stick some nice mem in there and a decent PCIe card and your onto a winner

p4's are all multilocked, but certain prescotts are now unlocked 14-18, all but D0 like my prescott. I'd suggest a p4 for simplicity and general use, but AMD is the way of the gamer and various other things. MSI k8 neo plat two is what I've heard to be the best a64 board, def do 939 if he wants good performance(top of line virtually). Make sure to get a winchester, or wait like me for the Venice. These are better clockers, cooler running, and the venice is the next gen of 939's(more advanced onchip mem controller???)

But then again I have a p4 2.4C in this lan box I'm on now doing 3.6gighz 1200mhz fsb with a 9700 and this little guy can fly! If you like intel i'd suggest a 3.0C and some good water cooling, good high bandwidth ram and try to get it to 4.0(should see what like 3.8-3.9 on a decent chip). Couple it wtih a good video card and it'll be great.

Remeber that with locked multis on P4's you will get better performance out of a 3.0 at 3.8 than a 3.2 at 3.8 since the fsb will be lower with the 3.2(higher multi) if you aren't unfortunate like me and get a fully locked chip, then you're at a bit less worry there. GL
