The DFI board would be my first choice too, but I wouldn't knock that A8N either
Both get the job done extremely well and the difference in price is a bonus!

I guess floppys only $8 when I'm spending about $30 on neon lights.

id say go with a better motherboard....your spending a rediculous amount of money on other things....and skimping out on a VERY important part of the computer...

why didnt you look at higher prices boards like the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
or DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI or even the ABIT Fatal1ty AN8-SLI

thats just my opinion, but why spend over 500 on a chip, 500 on a vid card, like 150 on a CASE!!! and 100 on a motherboard???

it just doenst seem to make sense to me....thats jus my 2 cents...

Something is bothering me about your proposed setup.

Why are you spending all that money on a Dual core processor? You would be far far better with a Venice.

The X2's do not overclock well atall. And unless you are running multithread applications then you ARE NOT going to see any sort of improvement in speed, just a huge dent in your wallet. Take it from me, I have one and the only time I see a see an improvement is with Photoshop and Max.

Also, for a media PC, a 7800 is mega overkill, unless of course you do plan to use this as a gaming rig, which furthers my arguement that the use of a X2 is totally unecessary.

Please concider this, as I think you are wasting alot of money if you plan to buy an X2.

Edit, the RAM sucks. 3200 @ 3-4-4-8 timings? No thanks. That won't leave you much room to overclock. I suggest looking into some OCZ or hunt around for some GSkill or patriot.

I agree with Pitch. Instead of an X2 you can save $200 and gain performance by getting a 4000+. The case isn't bad, although I like mine a little better. I think you'll like this hard drive a little better. You could try this for a TV tuner card. Tell me how it works. Now the RAM...that's terrible..try this stuff. I know it's a little pricy..but it's 2Gb at relitivly low latencies, plus it's only 75 more than you were planning on spending. Definetly go with the DFI LanParty UT NF4 SLI-DR. It'll be worth it for sure. Next on the list..oh yes..the graphics card, for an ultimate gaming machine yes, nVidia is kicking ass right now although you might wanna hold off and see how the X1k plays out. Scheduled to release on October 5th. Power supply looks good. Like SteveI said check out the Benq 1640. Oh, and the X-Fi just came in at Newegg; might as well include it with everything else. And I think that pretty much sums it up. Cheers!

That's better. The timings make a helluva difference and for the extra $20 they are worth it.

There is no G71. So you'll be waiting for a while.

Don't believe Anything that the Inquirer posts.

I finnal gotall the fans in the case. for some reason half of them didn't come installed. but it was fun heres a pic of the case with the drive in it. I'm putting the HDD in tomorow. I'll put the motherboard in on tuessaday since we get that off school. I had to order a 20-24 pin adapter since the x-connect is only 20. damn that was a bad mistake.
