Christ man, look how many quick start options you have. That just eats CPU cycles. Anywho...

That would be a Prescott.

On the stock cooler, your not going to get very far. My opinion, invest in aftermarket, either good air or water...completely up to you. But I wouldnt push very far(if at all) on the cooling you have.

Might not be what you wanted to hear...but your liable to destory that chip from heat.

They are, just make sure you're not running all those programs at once.

is it better to leave the sides of the case off for cooling as my case as lots of holes punctured out in a circle and plastic thunnel running to the cpu fan?

Dust build up and air flow may be affected if you leave the side off. Up to you to experiment i guess though.

Open your case and read what your motherboard is. With Epox it is written right beside the the ram slot and the Northbridge heatsink. Do you have you ram (Memory sticks plugged in right side by side?? If you do stagger them every other slot for dual channel operation. What brand and model of memory are you using?? Need to know that too.
And that Belarc is the worst tool I have ever seen use Si sandra, CPUZ or Everest to show your system info. If you did I would know a whole lot more already. Is that 3.2 prescott a 478 or a 775 chip? is it a DO or an EO or a NO.
you got to help me to help you. The best air cooler I have seen in use to date is the Zalman 9500. There may be something out there better I have just not personally used it. I believe in leaving the sides of cases on!! If you have to take them off to operate then you have a junk case that needs some modding!! And that is a good thing!!! Do not be afraid to make it more efficient!! Go to the mod section and checkout some systems I have posted a few there but there are many to see. Give up more information and we can help you out even more.
Here is a shot of my son's Zalman 9500 on the job.

His idle temp is right at 31C with his 3.4 prescott running at 4045mhz.
Here is a closeup of my 3.2 LGA-775 Precott

look right next to the memory there and you will see the motherboard model. Note the mem is in every other slot. This is necessary to get dual channel operation.
Let us know what you have.

Breeds Hill?
Sounds like you have a mATX mobo. If true, it may not have any overclocking options... At 3.2 and stock cooling, you will not have much overclocking potential.

How many PCI slots do you have?

The vast majority of mATX mobos are not made to overclock at all. There are only a handful out there with any capabilities.

I believe the 848 chipset is a single channel solution.

The CPU is a prescott... HOT, and depending on revision... the oc potiential of the cpu will be only 100 to 500 mhz.

Given that, the easiest way get something out of it would be a software app like softFSB, or something similar.
