Oppppppttterrrroonnnnnnn

Seriously though, this could point to some serious problems for the Conroe and Woodcrest.

Wouldn't you know it, just as I'm very unhappy with AMD's processor marketing, this tidbit comes out?

How could they get this far with a RAID incompatibility!?

Nobody with engineering samples uses RAID?

"Worse of all, several problematic situations occurred during the trial period and Intel was heavily criticised in internal memos, all ending up in a really unexpected manner. Since the company has allegedly been aware of the problems and didn't responded in a timely manner, the supply contract was then lost and awarded to a different product coming from a competing company, which passed the field test with flying colours. µ"

What? Has Intel gone bananas?

Well conroe has a new stepping from the ES samples to release
http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/itnews.php?tid=627088

it says they have fixed some problems doesnt say what, the original article of the problem though just tested with conroe's on that board and didnt actually test a presler to see if it was a cpu problem or a mobo problem

I am not sure why there was an issue with ServeRAID - but that also depends on which varient of ServeRAID it was. The 7e and 8e cards do not have their own processors, so rely on the CPU to do the work for them. The rest of the ServeRAID cards do all the RAID work onboard their own processing engines, so an issue with one of these cards is very serious, as it would suggest a major issue with some types of operation.
