Appears to be very nice motherboard. I wonder if DFI can continue there quality record for being able to handle, well, brutal FSB speeds.

I hope that it can. I will try to get one ASAP. Looks like the pic was just done under harsh florescent lighting...no purple tinge. And flourecent lights are really UV lights with a coating anyway.

Bit unusual, DFI building a hot board for Intel CPU's? I always think AMD=DFI.

LoL. I just hope that this board fairs as well as the reference ATI Marlin. The Revision D Marlin is quite superb.

You max out your ram...set it in bios WITHOUT a divider. 437mhz? 504mhz? 372mhz? All possible.

Set your FSB...343mhz, 412mhz, 472mhz, whatever. It's independant of the memory bus. This does come @ a penatly tho, as the data must be converted from one bus speed to another...causing some latency issues, if not set properly. We already know(at least I do), that DFI's bios team has had some issues with this, and this is why we do not have this board on store shelves yet.

Here's an old comparo done by OCW:

3 PCI-E slots! Awsome! Lots of space too.
What the heck is the card standing up inbetween the USB and the Audio ports?

thats the pcb for the audio ports, all recent lan party boards have it, the audio ports are not attached to the board there attached to that pcb takes away some "noise" from other nearby components, and as far as 3 pci-e slots intel bad axe has had that for a while

Read between the lines...performs on-par with the 975x, without the same bandwidth, and has much better 3D capabilities. in other words, the xtra bandwidth 975x has, does it NOTHING.

What bandwidth does it lack ? dual channel ddr2 i presume, x16 pci-e slots 3 of them physically. Though only two of them are intedid for graphics (crossfire) the other is for an ati physics card.
You'll probably find in using all the pci-e slots you'll get somthing like x8,x8 and x4.

Having independant fsb and mem speeds is a nice idea though if the 975x is anything to go by latency is more important than raw clockspeed.
Running a 400mhz fsb with ram at dd2 800 with say cas 3 latency is faster than running the same fsb but with the ram at 1000mhz with at best cas 4 and more likely cas 5 latency.

An interesting thing to note is there is only the x16 physical connectors on the pci-e bus (the 975 there is the x1 slots, sata etc all on there) when you plug in two or more x18/900 series cards the chipset apparently overclocks the pci-e bus to 125mhz + (100 stock)

I've found 1000mhz 4-4-4-4 much faster than 770mhz 3-3-3-8...can't seem to get my emem much higher on this board than that...but i have tested on other boards and it does 822 3-3-3-8, so this board(P5WDH) is whacked a bit...would be nice if the mem-clocking is real, and we have full access to memory timings...really frustrated with this as my mem will do 1200mhz no problem, but not on this board...damn TRD and TRFC!
