Core 2 a rip off?

Apparently Transmeta corporation is claiming that intel has shipped over $100B in chips that use patented Transmeta technology.

If Intel violated their patents, then I rather expect a number of other companies have as well, including AMD. This could get very nasty very quickly.

I suspect they've known for some time and have simply laid in wait for a big fat pay day. Now Intel doesn't get to negotiate for patent use.

you know corporate wars go on day in and day out. I got the product and I am not giving it back!! Only 20 years of litigation and a settlement later will we have some murky idea what actually transpired.

The mobile Core 2's just might be a ripoff. Supposedly, they offer little improvement in performance over the Pentium M's. Glad I didn't spend an extra ~$400 to find that out!
