Couldn't help myself.......
Been away from Intel for a bit now, but ran across a good price for a Northie 1.8a w/AVC Sunflower mounted on an Abit TH7 II w/512 PC800 Samsung.
So, it's time to build a little P4 toy to play with

Oh well, there are still folks who haven't grokked the true ugliness of Chipzilla. I know that LutaWicasa is a smart person. There is no law against buying Intel. Unless you examine the historic depredations of this greedbeast upon the very marrow of the public that refuses to open its eyes to this inescapable truth. My goodness!
Do P4's have some kind of brainwashing or soul stealing capabilities that I'm not aware of? I'm not dumping my AMD's. I got this cause it was cheap and I'm curious. Heck, I may well just play with it for a while and then sell it (with the deal I got, can sell for considerably more than I paid).
Besides.........it came with free Blueman tickets :clown:

No brainwashing that I know of, LOL. Just because I have a gripe about Chipzilla doesn't mean that anyone else should.

I'm posting this from a i440BX mainboard with a "C550." Due to my dumbo-osity at Christmas, my wrist still isn't strong enough to hump/switch innards of ye boxen and go 100% AMD. The components await patiently, and I do too. Most of the time.

When my patience deserts me, Intel is a handy target for my wrath. And deserving, too. IMHO.

Well, after having a minor problem with a P4 ready psu that wasn't......I'm up and running at 2.25 GHz
Kinda weird not having as much stuff to play with in bios, and some of what there is, I haven't the foggiest WHAT it is/does.

Anywho, after I play a bit I'll see what this thing'll do as far as F@H is concerned :clown:

Oh, I can see and feel a considerable difference, at least with the speed at which progs open/close etc. But I would expect this if for no other reason than using twice the ram I have in any other box. I'll have to run it a couple'a days before I can make any real judgements.

Yep, if I had the extra DDR I'd be willing to bet any one of my AMD rigs would treat this P4 rather poorly. Still, toyz is toyz

It appears to be a bit behind folding wise as well. The first protein it d/l'ed is a Protein A type. Looks like about 24 hrs to complete. Same wu on the Tbird 1@1.5 is no more than 17 hrs :-D
