Intel Core 2 Duo E6300

Follow Techware Labs as thy put the E6300 through its paces:

With today's vast market of processors, most people tend to aim for processors rated at a high GHz speed. A 1.86GHz processor couldn't be nearly as good as a part rated at 2.4GHz right?? Wrong. Intel's Core 2 Duo E6300 may only be 1.86 GHz, but it is one of the easiest processors to overclock, and at the end of the review, that's just what we'll do. Read our Guide showing how we used the components in this review to overclock this processor big time!

If you have good memory, good MB, good HSF and some luck, your E6300 will perform just like the top shelf core 2 duo.

But you don't have to pay more for it? What kind of deal is that? Hang on, how much more does the excellent mainboard, cooling and high performance RAM cost? As much more as the faster processor? I'm just asking.

Well I hate to burst some bubbles here but with the lesser cache the Allendales just DO NOT run with the Conroes. My allendale 6400 is not as quick on super pi as my Conroe. That is with my 6400 (2.13) running at 3800 and my Conroe (2.4) running at 3600. My allendale running at 3800 will push my 8800GTS to 53,000 on 3D01se with my card clocked to 655/1000. My Conroe will push it to 65,000 when it is at 3800mhz and the card is at the same clocks. So you can get some spectacular clocks and performance that will beat up just about everybody else out there but, not a Conroe at the same speed. And when it comes to video encoding forget it the Allendale is just crushed!! Find away to spend the money on the Conroe! When it comes to really good memory, G.Skill 6400 HZ is only $129.00. you will need a good board whether you run the Allendale or the Conroe. Boards run from around $100 to $300. My P5W DH is around $195 now and my P5NE-SLI is around $134. Both boards perform very well!! now the heatsink on my P5NE-SLI is the thermalright ultra 90. This was only $16.00 @ SVC Compucycle. What you need to do to get the cooling you need is the same as always good ventilation,a fan on your memory and NB and A hole in the side of your case so at least a 90mm fan can blow in over you HS/f also. Now most people have been at this long enough to know that this stuff is dirt cheap!!! I remember when it cost over $2000 to build a P-2 333 system. In case people don't know this an nvidia 4600 card cost far more than an 8800GTS does today! I remember P-3 600's was over $650 and my wages were a lot less then too! So I think all this goodness is really quite inexpensive.

Well blush my face! So, will it be Conroe or Phenom for me? AMD needs the business, let's hope Phenom is genuinely phenominal!

Do you know why the Jugo had a defroster grid on the rear window?
Wait for it...

Nowt wrong with the Yugo 45 unless you wanted to go from A to B without going via C
Heck it was considered luxuary compared to a Lada or Skoda.

I do remember the one off Lotus Lada tho that was one awesome machine.

Mustn't leave out the Trabant. Lada, was ever a lovelier car created? Weyell.. you gotta remember that Soviet roads were just a tad bumpy. Now the Zil, that was a fine looking motorcar!
