P965 S3 - E4300 - Bios Reseting issue.

I managed to sort out my temperature and now have a stable Overclock of 3.15 Ghz at 60C. Has been running perfectly with dual prime.

FSB 350
Multiplier x9
memory multipier x2 (700Mhz) 5-5-5-16
Voltages are all unaltered except Mem which is +0.2

but when i restart my computer my monitor stays switched off and my system switches off after 3-4 seconds . i have to keep it shutdown for atleast 10 seconds and then switch on, this causes the bios to reset. If i start the computer earlier then 10 seconds then i will get the same problem.

I have a feeling this is a temperature issue because if i leave the computer off for long enough then this problem doesnt happen, its only when i restart the pc. Also i noticed the heatsink on the mohterboard is pretty Hot when touched.

I've tried upping the voltage on my ram/fsb/cpu to make sure it wasnt a power problem, none of which helped.

I tried lowering my Overclock to 2.9 Ghz but the problem persists. Even if the CPU is completely idle and at 39C before the restart it will still cause the bios to reset. The only workaround is to leave the computer off for a while before starting it up otherwise bois will reset.

Any ideas?

My temps are in the picture below under full load and on idle

Lower it further. Try 266 fsb. I suspect the problem will go away. I have an S3 and a DS3. Both seem to have an internal trip that is very sensitive to overclocks. I've dropped my OC on one to 2.7 to get around this boot issue, for now.

I read somewhere a new bios helps, and MCH +.1v too. Not confirmed.

I'll try 2.7 but tbh i've got 3.15 fully stable so its a shame i have to loose that . I thought these boards were suppose to be good for OCing .

Your main rig is running at the same speed as mine, what settings do you have on it and do you have the same problem on that?

It turned out to be a temp problem after all.

After modding a Fan directly venting air out from the gfx card and chipset i'm now getting a 5C drop in temp on each of them.

Computer is now fully stable including restarts at 2.9Ghz:-
