For running a 32-bit Windows, 2 GiB is the upper limit anyway, unless you want to jump through some hoops. Makes sense to do all all-in-one board. I wonder how it performs?

I can imagine that only people who have a lot of money to spend on their machines will buy this, for the rest of us upgradeability is worth a fair bit I think.

With the current price of ddr3 being able to upgrade it later is quite important because its so damn expensive atm.

I did have a good laugh reading through the comments in that it should have more ram! The ram they have currently fitted will be 1.5x the cost of the mobo at least.
Also there maths is abit dubious! 50% faster than cl7 is not cl3.5 thats 100% faster!

would be interesting to see how it performs
Interesting to se

If you are running 32-bit Windows, 2 GiB is the practical limit anyway, unless you want to jump through hoops, and eve then 3 GiB is the absolute limit unless you go with PAE, and I think you have to run AS or DS to even have access to that.

As a consequence, upgradability really isn't that much of an issue for those environments. By the time 64-bit Windows becomes practical for the common man (meaning hardware is well supported with good drivers, and there's lots of 64-bit sofotware out there, and people actually NEED more than 2 GiB of RAM), this mobo will be obsolete ANYWAY.

They do need more ram on the motherboard if they are going to do that, for the type of user that would actually care about the reduced latency, 2gbs with Vista and DX10 games may not suffice.

Ideally, you want as much VRAM as possible for playing DX10 games. When a level or zone in a game loads-up, texture and model data is passed up to the VRAM. Too little VRAM and you will get short freezes, mid level, while further data is passed to the VRAM.

ocuk have this mobo on there listings now £470!!!

The board version without the ram is £165, which puts the cost of 2GB of ram on it at £305! thats almost double the value of the board. who in there right mind would pay £470 just for mobo + ram :O they are really pushing to justify that cost. if it was fitted with 4Gigs of ram then it would cost at least £775. even so some of the people on that forum wanted 8 gigs!

Then again corsair 1333mhz cas 9 ddr3 is £350 so the bundle is actually cheaper than buying the two seperate, though 2 Gigs of really good ddr2 is less than £100

Ai jai jai. That's $940! Methinks this mobo will not be a best seller. Well duh!

Me thinks, it won't sell at all except perhaps to those who don't know how to install RAM...

Installing RAM isn't that easy! I always take my machine in to Mr Fixit for RAM installation. A'hm too a-skeared to do it myself!

No kidding! Cadaveca probably already has one.
Turns out that the DDR3 is worth about $600. From that perspective it's not terribly overpriced.

That's the way things are heading, like it or not.

Eventually, your PC will be a tiny gem, set in a ring on your finger. This might sound crazy, but we already have tiny computers, e.g. mp3 players which attach to your lapels.
