Wolfdale 8400 vs Q6600

Hey guys,
as planned, i'm looking to add a better cpu to my rig next. To me, i have 2 choices:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 3.00GHz (1333FSB) - Retail
Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail

I was originally gonna go with the Q6600, but since reading about Wolfdale and how awesome it is for gaming, i'm unsure. I do want to encode/render, record videos, but i want to be able to run Crysis smoothly. At the moment, even with my E2160, i'm still getting round about 20-30fps (it's playably smooth, let's put it that way). I'm gonna be adding an 8800GTS or GTX soon as well. So, which choice would be best for me?

I faced the same decision when building another rig about a month ago. I opted to go for another Q6600 based rig. It came down to overall performance across the board and the quad was the better option for me.

The Wolfdales are monster overclockers, 4Ghz being the easy norm, however I haven't met a Q6600 that wouldn't do 3.2 on stock voltage. If you are primarily a gamer and do not wait around while encoding video I would go for the wolfdale, rendering is another matter alltogether and the Quad would be a better bet.

=O. I'm not gonna have the money until end of feb as it is. This isn't gonna be Intel's version of AMD's 2x2 "Quad core" is it?
