Hey dsio, I'd love to take a gander at a Sandra benchmark for your new Q9450 with the 30% OC on it.
Just so I can compare with mine so see what kinda performance gain there is...

Wow! and that's with other stuff running in the background?!
Very impressive CPU!!! That's double the processing power of mine!!!
Now I can see how someone can be ripping a movie & still be able to play a game at the same time without dropping fps.

By the time I have the means to upgrade (like this last time) I can only imagine what the new processors will be capable of in the next 5 years...

Example: I went from a P4-B 2.4Ghz (@ 2.66Ghz using CPUFSB) to a Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66Ghz @ 3.34Ghz. This is a 84% performance increase over my old system...

Torqued the block down much harder and its settled out a bit more. 39C peak with all 4 cores maxed out video encoding. 3.46Ghz @ 1.23V with loadline calibration enabled.

Can't go any higher because I've run out of ram dividers and this DDR2 800 just won't go any higher.

With some DDR2 1200 i'd love to see whats possible.

I've been playing with my Q9450 on the Maximus Formula for a couple of weeks. It looks like it will be a killer board after a couple of bios updates. As of today though the P5K premium is still the better clocker. 520FSB is the highest I have managed with the X38 and 540 with the P35. If only I had a 10 multiplier CPU, 5.0 would be rather easy on phase with this 45nm.
