Asus P5N32E-sli weird 1403 bios

Hey guys.

Recently updated my bios to 1403,but now I cannot overclock.
Tried all kinds of settings, read reviews, forums,no joy.
I had the 1302 before this and it was smiles all the way.
I recently bought a Lite-on sata dvd writer and I flashed bios because it would not see the writer.
I also purchased a Zalman 9700 led cooler,I left my pc running for a week straight,so I tried on Saturday to do a mild overclock,no joy,no matter what combinations I tried,it always defaults.
Any ideas?
I somehow assumed it was the cooler, but that certainly cannot know if the paste has burned in or not.
Also wen I try downgrading the bios,it will not, says the bios is not downgradeable,I have never seen an error like that.

I flashed the 1403 to my P5N32-E SLI just to check, I did not get anything out of the ordinary after the flash.

Try a 15 minute Cmos clear, if that does not work you can always flash with a floppy to force the older bios flash.

Hey guys.

CCperf721p,I tried it,still said no,cannot be downgraded.
I found an Asus update utility,a very old one, that has an option to downgrade the bios, worked like a charm, version 61002.Do you perhaps have a Wolfdale in the P5N32E-sli of yours,I read somewhere some guys were still having issues getting these to boot in these boards.

Thanks heaps for the replies.

I haven't really used the board in a few months, threw it together with a 2140 I had laying around. No wolfdales to test it with.

Thanks for the hit on using the older update utility. I added to my notes just in case it's later.
