Question for the overclockers

Ok, no rants i know its an old board but, is it possible to only get a 6mhz overclock on a P4S800d-x with a P4 3.06? Other higher settings either don't load at all or return errors with prime95. I've tried seting the ram to its lowest setting then working the fsb bus higher but it doesnt matter. Locks up during XP boot anything over 150mhz. Is this normal for this board? There are no voltage settings in the BIOS so i thought maybe thats all i can go? Oh also my ram is kingston hyper-x pc3200 2gb dual channel at 2-3-2-6.

Thanks!

"There are no voltage settings in the BIOS so i thought maybe thats all i can go?"

Yea IMO, I'd say that pretty much says it all, although I was able to overclock my old P4 2.4Ghz to 2.66Ghz (CPUFSB) without a vcore voltage increase, but I guess this depends on the processor as to how much it will overclock with "stock" voltage.
You might need to disable some setting(s) in the bios that might be interfering with the overclock...
Or, maybe there's a vmod you can do to the board to increase the vcore with a pot...hmm

Need input from some of our "more knowledgeable" OCer's here other than me...
But I thought I'd at least acknowledge your post to let you know that someone took the time to read it...

Review at Newegg on this board.
ASUS P4S800D-X 478 SiS 655FX ATX Intel Motherboard
Deactivated Item

Bad OC abilities
Reviewed By: Gamer4u on 1/7/2007
Tech Level: high - Ownership: more than 1 year

Pros: Best motherboard I could find for 478 prescotts. AGP slot and 4 DDR slots.
Cons: terrible OCing abilities. No voltage adjustments.
Other Thoughts: just get a 775 and e6400 and OC it w/ H20 cooling.

Lol thanks MUff1N for at least finding some info for me. I kinda figured that, there is a VID cmos setting i guess for voltage but its at the max. Well i guess i'll just have to save up for a new PC!

Yea, I've been there with my 7 yr OLD system with a 478 socket mobo with no voltage control or any adjustments really for any overclocking.
That's why I use CPUFSB to OC my system...it was the only way I could and I was limited on the OC because I couldn't raise any voltages on anything...
Even still, getting it to run at 2.68 @ stock vcore did help performance some.

Yes, set it back to auto...You'll need to know the maker of the PLL chip that controls the FSB...instructions on how to do this...
Click PLL find on the lefthand side of this page. Podien's Shareware

Yea...here it is.
