I think that just means that you can't build your own heat pipes. Unless you have an extremely well appointed lab\workshop\garage at home

Don't sniff the tubes after you cut them, whatever you do... Makes yer eyes all funky...

Just kidding... I had no useful input, so I figured I offer some humorous input... (oh... still don't recommend sniffing it... couldn't be good).

You can make basic heatpipes, but they'll only work when they're vertical (You'll also need a working fluid and some method of evacuating the pipe before introducing the fluid). Heatpipes that are commercially available include wicking internally, so that they can be used in any orientation.

It's not the alcohol that's not good for you, it's the rubbing that hurts. Come to think of it, I imagine Methanol can't be distilled into Ethanol? "Denatured" probably means "forever?"
