First off the OS partition for Vista or W7 has to be no less than 16Gbs or they won't install on the partition.
Then I need room for all the updates, drivers & software apps I want for it minus my games...that goes on a separate partition.
This is my current layout as it stands. (Acronis Disk Director screenshot)

I guess I could have it on a 25Gb partition & get away with that, but I like having the extra room for whatever I do want to install...personal choice.

Unfortunately no it's not because the programing on this is "Just that good", but it's worth the money IMO.

Ask PPM, he also uses Acronis Disk Director Suite too.
This program is much easier & faster to use than Partition Magic & works from within the OS instead of DOS.

I'm not sure if it works that way or not as the only things I've ever copied HD to HD was program data & program installation packages.

I've always used Acronis to make an Image backup copy of the OS, then partition out the hard drives the way I want them (using the disk director media rescue disk as you don't even need an OS installed) then installed the image to the OS partition I made (using Acronis Rescue media to load True Image) & that was that... Done!
