i need help overclocking a q9550 on a p35 mobo

that is the exact boards i had issues with.

i got an old dfi 939 nf4 lanparty running a athlon64 2500(venice core) at 2.9,been running perfect since i set it up after leaving asus so i got the p35 and it works great with my dual core but seems to hate my quad

what gigabyte board do you plan on getting? you should check out the ud3p "quad killer"

the ud3p is what i am looking at.I am also looking at the ud3lr board and some ddr3.

i wouldn't worry about ddr3 that much on a s775 system.

I have been looking at it and have read great things and bad things about it.

where have you heard bad things about it? its great there are so many options in bios for everything. twice as much copper is used in the board to dissipate heat inside the motherboard. i would save your money for something else rather than ddr3. just make sure you get ddr2 that an run about 450mhz

My faith has been renewed, however. This X38 Maximus Extreme has done everything I expected and then some with a Q6600. running 100% stable to 455fsb, and for benchmarking I have gotten it to 495x8. With its northbridge block, I can't recommend it enough, especially for watercooled rigs.

I reckon they have gotten their act together a bit and are worth another try for you, but I'm sure you have another point of view

I had a dislike of ASUS from a fair bit further back and some bad 440LX/440BX boards, followed by some shockingly bad S370 boards culminating in one with a P3-1Ghz in it that caught fire around the power caps. Went to EPoX for quite some time until they started slacking in their R&D (which was around the start of the Athlon 64 era, never really felt EPoX got into S939 as well as they did Socket A) then in S939 went to ABit and was pleased with them. After a Gigabyte X38-DS4 which was a complete and utter failure of an S775 board I went to the ASUS Rampage which has just been perfect to use and restored my faith in the brand. Well, at least restored my faith in $600 ASUS boards.

as far as the mem i am currently running ocz platinum 1066,and the e8400 running at 4 gig.

now i am saving for the ud3p board.

its a solid board the only cons would be no sli
