Ordered the Asus. Looked through the other posts and a few reviews. Not much between them but Asus seems to have the nose in front as far as benchmarks go.

I just got my Epox 4G4A+ in yesterday. dropped my 2.0a in...took it up to 1.8 Vcore on stock cooling and 135Fsb for a 700Mhz OC of 2700Mhz. Easiest oc i've had. It's not stable at any higher, but i'll wait for final judgement until my alpha gets here next week

Thats a nice overclock KJY9!
With better cooling you should be able to go even further with that chip of yours...

I wish...while it runs considerably cooler...this chip tops out at 2700Mhz. In the benches it eeks out my XP2100+@1987 by a smidge.
Ahhhh in search of the GTN OC

The Abit BD7 is great, all o/c features in the bios fix pci/agp etc etc
My 1.6 northwood runs at 2.4 @ default volts. I don't know what the limit of the chip is because my ram tops out after about 170 fsb, I think it could make 3 gigs otherwise

First of all, welcome to the forum Duffman!!!

So, Abit BD7?

What kind of DDR do you use, mate?

Got any links with extreme OC using this mobo?

Thanks
The ram I'm using is samsung 2700, so that's guarantied to run at 166 fsb. Successes rates for getting beyond 166 seem to be varied, I think one of my sticks is better than the other so I'm going to try with just one stick tomorrow.
A lot of people use the BD7 so i'm surprised it wasn't mentioned before but I love it, very stable and no problems so far.
Don't have any links for ubber o/cs but a bit of information about it here
The BD7II is out now, which has a few minor tweaks

[kommt auf den Preis an - ich nehme an, das ASUS ist massiv günstiger] sorry... depends on price, bus ASUS surely has a much lower price and about the same quality/stability. the Abit on the other side is probably more overclocker friendly

edit: seen your post of june, 20 too late!
Good buy - ASUS P4S533 is my favorite too

which FSB frequency and which RAM divider did u use to get 170??? 1.6@2400 seem to be 16x150... but how to get RAM@170?

I plan to buy a P4 Northwood 1.6 and put it on an ASUS P4S533.
Cooling will be a Maze2 with Black Ice Extreme. I hope to get 170+MHz FSB (>2700, Samsung original+OCZ PC3000) - is that reachable? Otherwise I have to take the 1.8...

ATM I'm running at 150 fsb and so is the ram. I've tried to increase beyond 170 fsb but I'm not having any luck
I don't run at 170 day to day because I can't accommodate the temperatures as my case is poor and i only have the retail hsf.
I would think if you have decent ram then you should reach beyond 170...
It might be a risk going for the samsung (unless you have some ubber stuff already), from what i've heard the latest batches don't seem to go as far which might mean spending more on ram that's guarantied to run at ubber speeds...a 1.8 might be cheaper

7th post down

Think i've found whats limiting me to 170fsb btw, nb temp rockets past that so i'm going to re-paste the nb hs and put the fan back on it, see what difference it makes (pc freezes when nb hits 50c)

Any comments about Asus P4B533?

At least it has AGP/PCI lock...

Yesterday I got my P4S533 and the 1.8A - after 1 hour, W2K installed: 2.4GHz is no problem with stock cooling and 1.55V (BIOS 1.5V) - some moments later: 1.66V and 2.61GHz @45°C stock cooling >>> 2.7GHz @ 1.66V (47°C): posts, boots, but SuperPI crashes after 2min - next step: installation of my MAZE2/BIX-Combo
