Cool Best OC of P4 1.8A with P4B533 mobo!!!

Ok!!!!!!!! That’s it!!! After more than 3 months searching for a nice P4 mobo I decided that the Asus P4B533 should be ideal for me.

Now, I got already my P4 1.8A Costa Rica and I need to know how overclockable is this ASUS with this specific cpu.

Please post your results and don’t forget to mention if your 1.8A is Malay or Rican (as it seems that there is some difference between these two), the Vcore, the cooler and the frequency of your RAM.

By the way, I have already got my Volcano 7+ which I am now testing it with my P3 1Ghz. Got to buy some Arctic Alumina, no-name 512MB DDR333 stick (man, are they expensive or what!!!) and of course…the P4B533!!!

Thanks in advance mates!!!

Lets see..... i had a 1.8 rica on an asus 533 with samsung 333 ram at 2-2-2 settings- got it to 2.466 by doing 18x137 and a vcore was standard with stock cooling-  and then i got 18x 145 with an outcome of 2.617, stock- would not load windows (dint bump up voltage enought)--good luck

I believe most guys are saying that the 1.8a is not OCing well. The guys who are hitting 2.8Ghz or so are all using either 1.6a or 2.0a. It's a little harder with the 1.6a because all your other stuff has to be able to 175FSB.

I got my ASUS P4S533 and the 1.8A (SL63X, Malaysia, I think, isnt' it?) - 2.61GHz@1.66V 100% stable (SuperPi 16M); 2.7GHz@1.66V: boots into W2K, but SuperPi crashes after 2min (stock cooling!) - DDR333 (Samsung original-TCB3 and Kingston Value-RAM) - PCMark2002 locks up after some Minutes, but system remains stable - Prime95 gives rounding errors after 4 or 5 passes

Very interesting...
I have a 2.0A on my Asus P4S533, and sometimes it gets a bit touchy about overclocking...

It'll run solid with certain settings, but after I shut it down and power it up again, it'll say in it's annoying voice

system fail due to CPU overclocking

Have any of you ever heard of this board being picky like this?
Perhaps a bios flash would do the trick... (just an idea)

Before 2 days i tried to get the first impression about what my system is capable to do...i used my friends ddr (Corsair XMS 2700) and the maximum i got with 1.75V from bios (1.8V Pc probe) stable was 2610Mhz with the FSB at 145Mhz. We did the trick with the 2nd and 6th jumpers in otder to get 3:4 ratio over the 132Mhz as well...

So, far i thing the most satisfying OC for me with this specific cpu is at about 2520Mhz and 140Mhz FSB...it looked VEEERYYY stable and the Vcore was 1.65V from bios (1,7 Pc probe)...

I DIDN'T TRIED WITH THE VOLTAGE HIGHER THAN 1.75V...I HAVE THE FEELING THAT THIS BABE CAN HIT ABOUT 2.72Ghz WITH ANOTHER 0.1V (THE MOBO CAN GIVE ME UP TO 1.95V IF I AM NOT WRONG).

I do not have the exact skinny on the Arctic Alumina vs Arctic Silver "1," 2 and 3.

Is the Arctic Alumina as good as the Arctic Silver's at transferring heat? Does the Arctic Alumina have use in a "niche" where it is better than the Arctic Silver(s)? Explanations gladly accepted!

Well, from what i ve read, AS3 is the winner in most of the cases but we are talking about a difference form 1C (idle) to 2,5C (full load)...but different persons have different configs and as always you cant be either sure or absolute about anything...unless you try it yourself.

Furthermore AA is 100% non-electrical conductive (this should intrest AMD users but its great to be on the safe side).

AA does the work for me and i am very happy...also, you can remove it VERY easily from both the cpu and cooler and here in Greece it has the half price comparing to AS3...

Try some reviews although most of them compares AS and AS2 to AA...
